Brew School

Ever wanted to brew your own beer but didn’t know where to start?

Our Brew School is a relaxed, hands-on brewing experience where you’ll spend an evening learning how beer is made from grain to glass inside the Bréifne Gael brewery.

Whether you're completely new to brewing, a curious beer drinker, or someone thinking about getting into homebrewing, this session is designed to be practical, approachable, and enjoyable.

No experience needed. Just curiosity and a love of good beer.

What Happens at Brew School?

Our Brew School runs on Friday evenings and follows a real brewday from start to finish using our Grainfather G30 pilot brewing system.

You’ll take part in the full brewing process, learning what each ingredient does, why brewing decisions matter, and how small changes can affect the final beer.

Along the way, there’s plenty of time to ask questions and enjoy a few beers in a relaxed brewery setting.

What You’ll Learn

During the session, we cover:

• How beer is made from scratch
• The role of malt, hops, yeast and water
• How to build and understand a beer recipe
• Mashing, boiling and fermentation explained simply
• How to avoid common beginner mistakes
• How to brew consistently good beer at home

The goal isn’t to overwhelm you with science — it’s to give you the confidence and knowledge to start brewing your own beer if you want to.

Session Details

When: Friday Evenings
Time: 6:00pm – 10:00pm
Location: Bréifne Gael Brewing Company, Cavan
Price: €60 per person
Includes: Hands-on brewing experience and you get to collect bottles of your beer in a few weeks. 

Spaces are limited to keep the experience interactive and personal.

What Happens to the Beer?

The beer brewed during each session is fermented and finished here in the brewery. Attendees will be invited back for packaging days where possible, or given opportunities to taste the finished beer when it’s ready and bring some bottles home.
